Lolli Comar, Experienced Birth Doula Services
In 1988, I gave birth to my first daughter in a Vancouver hospital with my trusted family doctor. Three years later, I had my second daughter at home with Midwives and a wonderful Doula. As a result of the intimate level of support services I experienced at both births, I felt drawn toward providing others with a similar type of nurturing, attentive care.
By the time my youngest daughter was eight months old, I had attended my first birth as a Doula…twins! In 1994 I completed the DONA approved Birth Doula Training at Douglas College. Over the next few years, I became a Certified Childbirth Educator and completed the Postpartum Doula Training at Douglas College. I am also an active member of Doula Services Association in British Columbia.
As a birth and postpartum doula professional, I regularly attend workshops, conferences and advanced training courses to enhance and upgrade my knowledge and skills.
It is from my experiences with these individuals and their families that I have gained immense wisdom and learned “the art” of Doula care. I continue to be humbled by the profound and unpredictable nature of birth and am ever grateful to the many families who have helped shape me as a Doula.
